The Unite cyclone separator is a single-unit, multi-stage device. At theinlet of the primary separation stage, small-diameter cyclones or vanesutilize the dynamic forces of centrifugal force and gravity to removeliquid and solid particles. By removing most of the entrained liquid at thisstage, the Unite design increases the lifespan of the high-efficiencycoalescing elements and keeps pressure drop accumulation to aminimum. This allows for more time between element changes, reducingoperating costs and downtime.
By using a quick-opening blind flange device, the replacement of thecoalescer elements can be completed with minimal time and effort. Thecycloneorvane-typedemisterseparatorsarecompletelymaintenance-free, washable, and have no replacement or moving partsthat could cause downtime.
Cyclone Separator
When gas containing mist and solids enters the main separation sectionof the vessel, the entrained liquid and solid particles are subjected tocentrifugal force.
(A) The contaminated gas enters the cyclone separator tangentially attwo points.
(B) The pipe shell forces the gas to form a swirling flow pattern.Centrifugal force throws the solids and liquids towards the inner wall ofthe swirling flow tube.
(C) Solid and liquid particles are deposited on the cyclone wall andaccumulate at the bottom.
(D) Clean gas flows downwards and then upwards through the centralannulus, exiting from the top outlet.
Vane Element
In applications where solid particles are not a concern, vane-typedemisters are the primary separators.
(A) The contaminated gas entering the vane element flows directly intoadjacent vertical channels, where each channel causes the gas toundergo rapid changes in direction multiple times.
(B) The inertial forces generated by the rapid changes in direction causethe liquid droplets to impact the vane walls. The droplets coalesce on thevane walls.
(C) Gravity, surface tension, and momentum drive the liquid to coalesceinto the vane pockets. The liquid flows out of the pockets andaccumulates in the liquid reservoir.
(D) Clean gas exits from the downstream end of the vane assembly.
