Bosch Group Project: Precision Filtration Solution for Industrial Diesel Storage Systems

Time: | Read: 3

Project Background:

As a leading global engineering and technology company, Bosch equips its large manufacturing bases and R&D centers with large-scale diesel storage tanks for emergency generator sets and fuel injection system performance testing. Due to long-term static storage, diesel in tanks is prone to condensation and microbial growth (commonly known as "diesel bug"), while impurities from transportation can threaten the extremely precise injectors of modern high-pressure common rail systems. To safeguard critical equipment, Bosch introduced a highly automated diesel purification and filtration unit.

Core Challenges:

  • High-Efficiency Dewatering: Free and emulsified water must be removed to prevent corrosion in fuel systems and microbial outbreaks triggered by moisture.
  • Particulate Interception Precision: Modern high-pressure common rail systems have extremely high requirements; filters must stably intercept fine particles above 3-5μm.
  • Long-term Storage Stability: The filtration system needs an automatic circulation purification function to ensure diesel in the tanks remains in optimal standby condition.
  • Safety & Explosion-Proof Standards: Deployed in fuel storage areas, the equipment must strictly comply with Bosch’s globally unified high standards for explosion-proof and fire safety regulations.

Our Solution:

In alignment with Bosch Group’s rigorous standards, we deployed a multi-functional diesel circulation purification module:

  • Coalescence-Separation Technology: Utilizing high-efficiency coalescing elements, the first stage coalesces tiny water droplets into larger ones, while the second stage separation elements completely block water, ensuring fuel water content stays well below industry standards.
  • Two-Stage Precision Filtration: A pre-filter intercepts large particles, while the fine filter uses high Beta-rated media to ensure fuel cleanliness reaches NAS Class 6 or higher after circulation.
  • Automatic Circulation & Monitoring System: Integrated PLC control enables scheduled circulation and purification of stored fuel. Equipped with online moisture sensors and differential pressure monitoring, the system tracks fuel quality in real-time and alerts for filter changes.
  • Explosion-Proof Safety Integration: The entire unit features an explosion-proof design with intrinsically safe instruments and power components, adhering to safety guidelines for eliminating sparks and static accumulation.

Customer Value & Results:

Since the system's commissioning, all diesel indicators in Bosch's storage tanks have consistently exceeded engine manufacturer requirements. During multiple emergency power drills, the generator sets achieved a 100% rapid start-up success rate, effectively avoiding injector clogging and expensive repair costs caused by fuel contamination. The fully automated operation has significantly reduced manual sampling and maintenance hours. Bosch expressed high satisfaction with this efficient and reliable fuel security solution, adopting it as a standardized energy backup configuration for its industrial parks.
