Oily wastewater from industrial cleaning, machinery operations, chemical plants and petroleum-related processes can contain free oil, dispersed oil, emulsified oil and suspended solids. These contaminants can complicate wastewater treatment and reduce the performance of downstream equipment.

UNITE provides oily-water filtration systems using Automatic Backwash Filters for solids removal and the Coalescence Separation Series for liquid-droplet separation. Filtration equipment removes suspended solids, while coalescing separation systems can help capture and separate oil droplets from water streams.

Common Oily Water Treatment Challenges

Oil droplets can exist in different forms, ranging from easily separated free oil to stable emulsions. Solid particles may also combine with oil, increasing fouling and making downstream treatment more difficult.
