Operating Standards

Pre-Startup Check

  • Inspect filter plates, frames, seals, valves, and instruments.
  • Ensure pressure gauges, flow meters, and level indicators are functional.
  • Confirm filter cloths are clean and properly installed.

 System Startup

  • Close discharge and outlet valves.
  • Start feed pump gradually, increase to operating pressure.
  • Ensure uniform liquid distribution across all filter plates.

 Normal Operation

  • Maintain stable pressure and flow.
  • Monitor pressure differential; clean or replace filter cloths when clogged.
  • Take periodic filtrate samples to ensure quality.

 Shutdown Procedure

  • Stop feed pump, slowly open outlet valve to drain filtrate.
  • Open discharge valve to remove filter cake.
  • Clean filter plates, cloths, and housing; sterilize if required.

 Safety & Maintenance

  • Wear PPE (gloves, goggles, protective clothing).
  • Regularly inspect plates, seals, and valves for wear.
  • Record operating parameters (pressure, flow, filtrate quality).
